The HipstaCase

Basically, the HipstaCase takes your beautifully designed Apple iPhone 4 and make it looks like a shitty plastic camera from the 1970’s or 80’s. Seriously.

So why would anyone have any interest at all in the HipstaCase? It also features a very clever and usable tripod mount.

A friend of mine in Japan sent these over thinking I would be interested. Essentially, it’s a pair of scissors handcrafted in Japan by a group of folks that have been doing it for generations. There is something beautiful about their simplicity.

The idea of putting the sensor in the lens of a camera rather than the body isn’t a new one… However, this concept is the best that I’ve seen. Essentially, these smart folks built a full frame sensor inside of a camera lens that communicates wirelessly with the camera body. In this case, the body happens to be a modified iPhone. This is pretty brilliant. Most of us aren’t professional photographers carrying around a body and multiple lenses. In fact, I’d bet most of you folks simply cary a camera body with a lens attached. So, how do you protect that combo without carrying a separate camera bag? Easy, get a Roma Bag. Essentially, it’s just a camera bag that was designed to hold a body with lens attached and be small enough to fit into your regular every day bag. Pretty smart.
