So I got a genuine reader’s question over the weekend:

Ryan, I have $1000 to spend on a turntable and no time for research or messing with vintage stuff. What would you suggest?

Frankly, I prefer vintage stuff… and I enjoy the time it takes to find the right one and sort it out once I have it. That being said, if I were going to spend $1000 on a no-nonsense turntable that was ready to go, I’d get a Pro-Ject RPM3. It’s belt driven, simple in design, and comes with a¬†Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge. Pretty hard to beat for the money.
