Junghans’ max bill Chronoscope

Junghans’ has always had the Bauhaus look down. They just have a knack for creating clean/simple watches with a striking look. Their quality, however, has always left me wanting more. They are just so damned light, that I wonder about their durability.

In any case, this new Chronoscope is gorgeous.

The Sevenhugs Smart Remote U

I just got one of these Sevenhugs Smart Remotes to review… and holy hell, is it good at what it does. There are no buttons. Essentially, you just point the remote at whatever it is you want to control and the display on the remote shows the interface needed to control it. It just works. The catch is, you have to put sensors in the room where the remote is to be used.

Don’t want sensors? Get the cheaper Smart Remote X ($200). It works just as well as a remote and you don’t have to use the sensors… You do lose the “point and shoot” novelty, but it’s still a fantastic remote.

OverBoard Dry Bags

I do a lot of scuba diving… In fact, the older I get the more I tend to yearn for the water in general. I’m starting to need the ocean in a way I never have before.

Anyway, all of this diving through the years has gotten me in tune with the gear… and one of the most important things to me is a proper dry bag. I’ve gone through a bunch… and then, at my local dive shop yard sale, I bought a used OverBoard dry bag. It’s by a large margin the best I’ve ever owned.

If you need one. Stop looking.

The Facebook Catastophe

I’m asked about my distaste for Facebook quite a bit and have a sort of elevator response that I give. But frankly, that’s the tip of the iceberg. Roger McNamee wrote the book on it… and he recently did a podcast with Mark Hurst that gives a more detailed perspective of the problem.

Find a tech guy… any tech guy in the tech world… and ask him if he has a facebook account. There’s a reason for his answer.

Anyway, take some time to listen to this.
