EVERYDAY BLADE

So these guys sent me a prototype to play with it. Essentially, it’s a tiny (keychain form factor) folding knife that uses disposable X-acto blades for the cutting edge. It’s made out of something that feels like plastic but that they call a “Proprietary material” that is stronger than aluminum and lighter than steel. Whatever the case may be, this thing is TINY and LIGHT. It’s also pretty usable for opening boxes and cutting other every day shit.

The originators envisioned this thing being hooked to a keychain. My only concern is that the blade isn’t protected all that well when collapsed and I can totally see myself cutting the hell out of a finger when searching for stuff in my pocket. Otherwise, it’s pretty great… Easy to open, easy to close, and it’s literally as sharp as a hobby blade.

“Hey Ryan, I have $600 to spend and need a decent camera. I have no interest in video, but want a picture maker with a small form factor and decent image quality. What do you reccomend?”

Easy one. I think the best compact digital ever made is probably the Ricoh GR II. It’s tiny, built like a brick shit house, and is really fun to shoot with. In fact, it features one of my favorite lenses of all time. Best of all, you can get really nice examples on eBay for well under $600. It’s the best deal in photography in my opinion.

Look on eBay.
