Default Hi Standard 1911 style 38 super

Anyone know anything about the Hi Standard brand? I have a friend who has a 1911 style 38 super with the chrome finish that he wants to trade me. It's a nice looking gun, but I'm not very familiar with Hi Standard and have never had a 38 super. Any thoughts or info that could be of help to me?
Thanks,
John

never heard anything good about them, nor much bad either so. I dont think I would trust it as a carry weapon but for a fun gun would be fine.

High Standard was the maker of many very collectable .22 autos from the '60s & '70s. They once provided the .22 caliber side arm for airforce pilots.

Well I didn't try it yet. The indoor shooting range I go to had a customer that was shot by one of the employees while shopping for guns last week! Anyways....they're some strange people. I'll wait till the sky clears up and try it outside this week. Thanks for the info....

John, Did you score this gun? It occured to me that being .38 super, it was probably meant for action shooting sports of some sort. Now I wanna see it!

Took it on a trade. I think I'll probably trade it towards something else. It's got the hi polish chrome finish with the pearl grips and a gold trigger. It feels decent in my hand for what it is. Parts of it are made in the Philippines and then it's finished in Houston, Texas from what I understand. There are a lot of other firearms out there I'd rather have. I'd really like a revolver. That being said I haven't shot it yet.....who knows maybe I'll fall in love with it.
