Shit $200 for Levis?!?
You could be wearing Armani for that! I thought Levis were supposed to be in the $50 range. |

It all depends on how much you value 2 things:
1. Selvedge denim (if you don't know what that is, these jeans aren't for you) 2. Made in the USA (If you'd rather have a pair of jeans made in Italy, go piss up a rope) |

$200 sounds insane when you can buy Wranglers for $15 bucks at Target.. but I have to say.. back in '80.. I think I was paying around $12 to $16 for on sale and with my Mervyns employee discount for American made ( Frisco ) 501's .. again.. if I remember correct, they were close to $30 full freight... Hate to see what that works into now...
At the time it didn't seem so crazy.. even though I was making $5 bucks an hour.. maybe because they lasted forever and I wasn't being bent over for every other thing in my life ?... Last edited by CaliNapco; 06-01-2012 at 07:42 PM. |

My folks sacrificed hard in the early 80s spending $34 for me to have shrink to fits. I got TWO pair to start the schoolyear. It was all we wore until about 88 or so.

I wore nothing but the good old 501 shrink to fit for years. It makes me sad that everyday things that the average person could afford, such as quality made in the US Levi's, have become a rarity that costs a premium. I may be inclined to buy a pair, but I'll probably end up babying them instead of just wearing them for working like I used too. I want America back!
