Default Android Phones (tips, tricks, accesories, etc)

I figured I would start a post for droid platform users. I picked up a an HTC Droid Incrediable a few months ago and have been fairly happy with it. The one thing I find disappointing is the lack of heavy duty cases (and no Jalopy Journal app...hint hint Ryan) Any other Droid users out there?

I'm on a Android 2.2 Motorola Droid X

not many accessories, but I found a how-to on putting my songs from itunes on it.
I agree on the cases. I have a ipod touch with a belt holder that is slick. It holds very well, and I'd have no problem riding my bike with it in there. Nothing of the sort for Droid X. I love the clarity of the screen and the quality of the pics and vids.

My Droid X kicks ass. The Verizon image of the OS isn't as slick as it could be, but it beats anything I've ever seen of the iPhone. I've been on 2.2 for a while with only one issue. My email sync stopped for all accounts and could only be restored by pulling the battery for a hard boot. Happened twice and no further issues.

I bought a hard cover for it the day it came in. It was from Rocketfish. Fit was great. Feel was good and it seemed to offer reasonable protection from everything but my Basset hound. Once my phone was replaced, I found a semi rigid silicone slip on case by Motorola at the Verizon store. Much better protection, easily removed. That's a plus if you have the windshield mount car dock. It won't accept the X with a case installed. (I guess, never tried with the silicone cover)

Favorite features: Navigation (beats my Garmin), Camera (8 MP & 720p video!)

Best apps:
Astro (file manager)
Bluetooth File Transfer (duh)
Alarm Klock (use music for as many alarms as you want)
Lookout (security, antivirus and tracing),
Power Amp (plays more types of music files)
Tesla LED (flashlight and strobe)

Best tip: NEVER let the battery run all the way down. Hell to restart.

Are you using an app killer? Which one?

I thought about getting the X but there were three things that swayed me.

1. physical buttons on the X. not a fan.
2. larger size. I carry my phone in my pocket. Bigger the phone, bigger the target.
3. My wife wanted to go with the Incredible because of the size. It's much easier if I am familiar with whatever phone she uses as I typically wind up configuring it for her.

I use advanced task killer

1. Theres only a couple, and I rarely need them.
2. Surprisingly small in pocket. I carry mine on my job (ironworker/welder) and have zero issues, scratches, etc. I did have a random unexplained not work related failure, but easily got it replaced.
3. Women rule the world...

my favorite apps/must haves:
Pandora and siriusXM for tunes
Pageonce (free) for tracking finances
Yellowpages (I work on the road, this searches, address, phn no. and navigates super easy so I can find cool shit or tools or whatever in a flash)
Onion News Network, Dolphin TV, TV.com, and Youtube for entertainment.
Tikl - touch to talk (similar to alltel) My wife (Droid 2) and I use it all the time. Going to try skype also.

After going through a few cases I finally picked up an Otterbox case off of Amazon.com brand new in the box at half price. I'm very happy with the quality and the protection it offers my phone.

Apps I recommend (all free)

Juice Defender (great battery saver app)
Buzz Feed (entertainment)
PDA Net ( tethering for internet)

you may try this, things on that website is quite value and accessibility., I have five cases now, and I enjoy changing 'clothes' for my phone every other days.
