Default The Stolen Leica M3

A couple of years ago, I ran across an eBay auction for a Leica M3 and a whole host of lenses. It was a package that was worth well over $4,000, but featured a "BUY IT NO... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Gear Journal, click here.

Go get him, Ryan. Of course it's a misunderstanding. He misunderstood that he was actually supposed to pay you! I hope you get something back but, if not, you can at least make him very uncomfortable. Just him knowing that you know has to be eating at him. Even if he doesn't have a conscience. I'm embarrassed we share the same first name!

Great story. I love reading your posts here and on the H.A.M.B. I hope you get the camera back and start shooting with it again!

That is a good story and I really hope you get the camera back.

I have to say though, that my heart sank when I read that you decided to sell the camera body and break up the set.

Best of luck reuniting the Leica family.

Awesome story, Ryan.
Give 'em hell.

You really should link this to the HAMB.
There have got to be some brothers out there who would make use of Mr. Manzo's contact information...

Hello Ryan,
I am a Mexican disgusted by the bad experience you have had with the guy that ripped you off with the camera.
I just registered on this webpage to tell you there is a way to track packages through the mexican postal system.
You just have to enter the shipping number on the following webpage:

http://www.sepomex.gob.mx/ServiciosL...msmexpost.aspx

And you will clearly see the delivery status.
If you need any further help just mail me.

A Leica is a treasure and I really appreciate your honesty to the elderly lady. Too many guys would just rip someone off and then brag about "the deal of the century".
I hope things will turn out in a good way, going public sometimes help.
I had a recent experience when going public helped me to get I got my undelivered parts and also to help another guy got his money back (I think you are aware of that story).

Just read your stolen Leica post and feel for you. I suppose this is why so many US based ebay auctions only ship inside the CONUS. It's scum like this Luis Javier Jiménez Manzo that make ebay a PIA sometimes. I hope you get the items returned and your funds back. Ebay/Paypal should refund that $800+ based solely on the evidence you dug up.

Good luck and excellent detective work!

i've always wondered WHY only the lower 48? the other 2 are still US so it would still be in the hands of USPS/UPS/FEDEX.

Well fellas... happy ending... sort of... I didn't get my camera back, but I finally got paid. And the money went to a Leica M6. Back in the film game.

I do lower 48 because I can usually "Ballpark" a shipping amount when advertising stuff...just makes it easier.

Hi-

I am brand new to this forum. I am a full time working professional photographer with 40+ years in the field. The photo of the Leica outfit kind of inspired me to finally register and make this my first post. I used Leicas for many years before - reluctantly! - switching to digital. Blame my clients. Anyway, I still have my Leica outfit (2 bodies, 3 lenses and the usual accessories) packed away in my safe. I am glad to hear that this equipment is still appreciated and evenused by a whole new generation of photographers.

Glad the $ worked out in the end, too.

Yeah, I'd love to have one of those... My only m-mount camera at the moment is an M6 that I bought when I finally got my money from the M3.

However, I have an X-Pro 1 headed my way.. and adapter will follow!
