Maybe it's not the latest thing in consumer electronics but in it's day it was a high-end piece. My dad had a later model 1000-D that was the first transistor style Zenith Trans-Oceanic. That was in 1959, it cost $275.00 which was a fair amount of change . We listened to it for hours until he moved up to a true HAM(b) radio and the Zenith was put on the shelf.
This is the first Zenith TO model produced in the early '40's and has to be in the running for the coolest looking radio ever. |

My dad had one of those. He used to mess with it all the time. He spoke fluent German,so he would talk back and forth with some German dude.
