A few months ago, I posted a review of my favorite wallet – The Slimmy. For those in the cold, the Slimmy is a front-pocket wallet that will change your life by eliminating the clutter of your every day carry package. Essentially, the slimmy is a miniature file folder that is optimized to carry a few business cards, a few credit cards, and your ID. That’s it. And it all seems simple enough – right? How could such a rudimentary idea change your life?

Well, now is your chance to find out. The Gear Journal is teaming up with Koyono Co. in an effort to spread the word and the Slimmy. The beneficiary? You.

All ya gotta do is post a picture of your grotesquely fat wallet as reply to this post. On December 20th, The official Slimmy judge will pick the 10 most impressively huge wallets and give the owners their very own Slimmy along with an incredibly clever little pen – the Slimmy Pen. But wait, there’s more… Not only will the top ten but bricks win the Slimmy goods, but the top award winner will get a brand spanking new 32GB iPod touch while the next two runner-ups will win 8GB iPod Nanos!

You and your fat ass wallet can’t lose, so what are you waiting for!? Post away gentlemen!

That clever little video not enough for you? Be sure to check out the brand new superslimmy.com. You’ll be glad ya did!

And a special thanks to our pals at Koyono Co. for supporting the Journal. Being new, small, and incredibly unworthy of their attention, it’s awful nice of them to throw us a bone.

Contest rules can be read here.

So a friend of mine only “EDCs” three items – an iPhone, a driver’s license, and a credit card. As such, even great little solutions like the Slimmy are just too much for him. In the past, he has just used a rubber band to keep his cards together and let his iPhone float in his pocket. Recently, however, Case-Mate has come up with a solution.

It’s a simple iPhone case with a sleeve located on the back for two cards. As a package, it is as minimal as you can get and thought more than a few of you might be interested. Check it out:

If you are interested, you can get yours here for $30.

Bill is a craftsman. He creates a line of very high quality cases for both knives and watches. Each has received rave reviews all over the internet. More recently, however, Bill has been busy developing and producing something he likes to call “Bill’s Urban Wallet.”

The Urban Wallet is a pocket organizer that houses a folding knife, a set of business cards, credit cards, and cash – each with it’s own dedicated spot. With the pocket organized with the Urban Wallet, more weight can be carried more comfortably and items are easier to reach in a pinch. That’s the idea anyway… and we found that it worked pretty damn well.

Check out the video review:

I’ve long been a proponent of front-pocket wallets. Not only do they aid against pick pockets, but they also save your back – especially if you are one of those guys that sits on his ass all day. A “lop-sided” ass really can do a lot of damage to the upper and lower back. Pay attention, I’ve got a solution.

Koyono’s Slimmy wallets are among the absolute thinnest money/card stashers on the planet. They are essentially a miniature file folder that’s open on two sides and optimized to carry essentials such as cash, credit cards, driver’s license, and receipts. Slimmies come in three flavors:

1. The Slimmy . This is the wallet that changed the world. Koyono has sold a ton of these and a lot of people still consider it the best front-pocket wallet in the world. Simple and basic. $34.95

2. The View Slimmy . The same as the above, but with an ID window added for easy flashing. This is my personal favorite. $34.95

3. The Slim Slimmy . If slim isn’t enough for you, try out the slimmer slim. The penultimate in sleekness, the SlimSlimmy thin credit card wallet is the choice of the minimalist purist, eliminating every last morsel of excess bulk and bulge of traditional wallets. $32.95

Take your pick — you can’t go wrong with any of these.
