I admit it, I was skeptical… The whole idea behind the Amazon Kindle seems kind of “before its time” to me. Serious reading from a gadget? I bought one anyway…

I have an iPhone 3gs and my battery life is acceptable with normal use patterns. However, if I’m on the road and use my browser or check my email more often than normal, it is not uncommon for me to see less than half of my battery life left with more than half a day to go. One solution is the Mophie Juice Pack. Essentially, it’s a case for the iPhone that protects it minimally and also ads a reserve battery that effectively doubles the life of your battery.
Seems pretty smart on paper, but has anyone ever tested it out? What were the results? If no comes forward, I’ll see if I can’t get my hands on one and report back.
Check out the details here.

Tripods are a complete pain in the ass. They are big and ungainly, so carrying them is always a hassle. Of course, a quality professional unit is also very expensive. To carry a really functional unit every day you can expect discomfort on both your back and your pocket book… or so it seemed to me when I began shopping for a compact and versatile tripod.
The iPhone changed my life. No longer am I tethered to a laptop or a wifi connection - I can roam the world taking comfort in the fact that in a pinch, I can manage all of my sites and more from a little device that fits perfectly in my pocket. Quite frankly, I couldn’t live without it.
I carry a Nikon DSLR and love it, but it’s not exactly pocketable and is just flat-out inappropriate as an EDC camera. Enter the Panasonic Lumix GF1. It’s a small camera that is suitable for pocket carry, but sports features that seem more inline with a full-sized DSLR:
- 12-magepixel CMOS sensor
- 3″ LCD
- 720p HD Video recording
- Built-In Flash
- SDHC Storage
- Mini-HDMI output
- Image stabilization
- and more…
Of course, all of this tech-glory comes at a price - $900. None of my favorite reviewers have gotten their hands on one yet, but I will update this post as soon as they do…
We are absolute gear junkies hear at the journal... And when we find things that we can't live with out, we will make sure you know about them. Here's just a few of our favorite gadgets:
The best thing about these little knives is their size - thin and blunt. They don’t look like much, but these sharps couldn’t be any more handy. Dirt cheap too… Check em’ out.
I love a good tactical bag, but some times you have to be a little more subtle. Our favorite civilian? The Booq Python. Read more about this beast here.
We’ve had a ton of multi-tools and can confidently say that the Micra is the best of the bunch in the “mini” category. Handy tools and a great base for a full custom key chain piece. Details here.
Want a watch that will take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’? You can’t beat a Marathon TSAR. Built like a tank and priced decently. Check it out.
